nail art: ocean ombré (+video!)

photos + video my own

I've been wanting to do ombré for awhile so at first I did the sponging effect which I noticed made the polish look really gritty and, not smooth. I used 3 different polishes, one darker - one medium and another green-ish sheer. I just thought of this idea on a whim so I used random polishes in the same color scheme which I already had, random brands.

You can see in the video above that I first had the medium coat and then applied the darkest to the bottom of the nail; I touched up the separation it created with the medium polish again, when the nail is still wet. I then coated the entire nail with the sheer color and it created a nice gradient of a color scheme - but of course it's necessary to touch that up, all while the nail is still wet. It's pretty time consuming but comes out looking rad!

p.s. the video was taken with my iPhone as an experiment so excuse the poor details.

If I was going to do this again I'd probably use ESSIE beach bum blu for the medium shade, coat azure for the darker and kisses & bises for the sheer
